Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta says helping to facilitate Paul Pogba's record deal to Manchester United in the summer of 2016 is his greatest achievement ever.
The Italians got Pogba as a free agent from Manchester United but sold him for a world record transfer £89 million fee five seasons later.
Many football fans and pundits believed United overpaid for the French midfielder, although Pogba had a decent first season for United winning both the League Cup and Europa League as well as winning the Europa League player of the tournament.
The 24 year old midfielder has scored 11 goals in 57 appearances for the Red Devils since moving back to England.
CEO Giuseppe Marotta was asked about Gonzalo Higuain’s move to the Champions League finalists last year and he said: You can not do such a deal every year. Higuain had created an opportunity to leave Naples at an opportune moment in which we decided to make that investment.
"But you can not think of doing it every year.
"That transfer was closed before Paul’s move to United was finalized, which was predictable and of course facilitated the Pipita deal."
He was asked on the greatest deals he’s ever pulled off, Moratta replied: "Pierluigi Casiraghi signing for Juventus was the sign of progress.
"Signing Antonio Cassano from Real was special: it was pure emotion because it was about recovering a talent.
"The Pogba deal to Manchester United, the biggest personal achievement."
Pogba who started the season brilliantly has been out with hamstring injury with since September but he is close to returning to first team action.
