The Ondo state police command have arrested a 34-year-old farmer,
Segun Akande, over the killing of a 65-year-old grand mother, Mary Ogundiran, who was beaten to death by the farmer for intruding on his cocoa farm.
Speaking on the arrest of the suspect, the state commissioner of Police, Gbenga Adeyanju, explained that the woman was killed in a farm in Ofosu in Idanre local government area of the state.
According to him, the deceased was beaten to death by the suspect for plucking cocoa pods in his farm and said the suspect would soon be arraigned before the court.
The suspect while speaking on the death of the woman said he discovered the deceased plucking cocoa pod on his farm and tried to drive her away.
He however said he used stick to beat the woman who fell down in the process and gave up on the spot before any help could reach her.
