The Nigerian Navy, on Sunday, said 80 bags of rice has been seized which is being smuggled into Nigeria from Benin Republic through the waterways.
Spokes an of the Nigerian Navy Ship, Elizabeth Ibrahim, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the boat carrying the 80 bags was intercepted by the operatives attached to its Forward Operation Base in Badagry, Lagos.
She said: “A wooden boat being used to ferry the bags of rice was also intercepted by naval operatives while on a patrol at the Iyana-Ipaahi water ways around the Badagry creeks.”
The Commanding Officer in Badagry, Capt. Abdulhakeem Ojebode, handed over the seized bags of rice to the personnel of the Nigerian Customs.
